Koei Tecmo Holdings has announced<\/a> that revenue generated through Steam reached 8.63 billion yen (over $60 million USD) in the past fiscal year (as reported by GameBiz<\/a>). This accounts for 10.4% of the company\u2019s total revenue and is an increase compared to the previous fiscal year, when Steam\u2019s share was omitted from reports due to being lower than 10%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although some of Koei Tecmo\u2019s recent PC ports have suffered from optimization issues<\/a> on launch, the company has been actively expanding its presence on Steam, true to its roots as a pioneer of computer gaming in Japan<\/a>. In the past fiscal year, they released eight titles on Steam, including the million seller Dynasty Warriors: Origins,  Atelier Yumia and Warriors: Abyss<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Koei Tecmo still has room to grow in this respect, especially when compared to other major Japanese publishers. Capcom, which was early to start expanding into the PC ecosystem, recently reported that over 30% of its yearly revenue came from Steam<\/a>, increasing by 61.1% compared to the previous fiscal year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Koei Tecmo is still seeing stronger sales through PlayStation, which accounted for 13% of its total revenue in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Interestingly, the highest revenue came from Apple (17.6%), which likely accounts for revenue made through mobile game microtransaction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
