South Korean video game publisher and holdings company Krafton.<\/strong> recently announced its intention to acquire Japanese advertising and animation company ADK Holdings for 75 billion JPY (roughly $516 million USD). Through this acquisition, Krafton hopes to combine ADK Group\u2019s know-how in animation planning and production with its own global experience in game development and publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While ADK Group does not make games, it has been involved in the production and promotion of over 300 anime titles in its 69 years of operation, including notable series like Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Yu-Gi-Oh! According to the official press release<\/a>, Krafton hopes to \u201cexpand the possibilities of collaboration between animation and games and strengthen the foundation of [its] content and media business in Japan.\u201d By working together, both companies hope to \u201ccreate new added value\u201d in their respective fields while retaining their identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krafton has been on a game studio acquisition roll lately, netting companies like PUBG Studios, Striking Distance Studios<\/a>, and Tango Gameworks<\/a>. Now that Krafton is set to acquire ADK Holdings, future games published by the company may benefit from extra advertising, production, and animation expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
