In Elden Ring Nightreign<\/strong>, you\u2019ll face overwhelming bosses at nightfall, but that doesn\u2019t mean the map isn’t scattered with a bunch of other powerful enemies waiting to ruin your day. One of them, the pot-throwing Troll, has especially risen in notoriety for how completely unmanageable it can become. I\u2019ll go over what makes these Trolls so overpowered and how to get a better chance at beating them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll encounter these Trolls perched on the walls of the Castle in the center of the map. Once they find you, they start hurling large magic pots at you. The pots explode on impact, dealing wide-area damage. The Trolls\u2019 range of detection is quite wide, and worst of all, the pots fly almost silently, so just walking nearby the Castle can get you blindsided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you stay long-distance, you\u2019ll keep getting hit one-sidedly, so you\u2019re forced to climb the Castle walls to close the distance. Once up close, the trolls switch to melee-combat, and individually, they\u2019re not too hard to handle. But that\u2019s just the beginning \u2013 there are four pot-throwing Trolls guarding the walls, each covering each other\u2019s backs. While you\u2019re locked in melee with one of them, the others will throw pots at you. Sometimes the pots will come flying in from multiple directions at the same time, forcing you to dodge pinpoint explosions as you fight. Compared to these guys, even the Nightlords feel less overwhelming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the impact zone of each pot catches fire, so if you stay in the area, you’ll take continuous damage. The narrow Castle walls leave little room to dodge, and if you get knocked back the wrong way, you can get trapped in the flames and die. The flames also conveniently block allies from reviving you, not that they have the time to as there\u2019s more pots flying their way. Even worse, defeating one of the Trolls doesn’t mean the attacks will stop while you claim your reward, so unless you\u2019ve cleared all four of them, the chances of dying mid-selection are high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When dealing with these tedious Trolls, I recommend starting from the southwest wall of the Castle. It has higher footing and better cover, making it harder for nearby Trolls to spot you.\u00a0Ideally, you want to isolate and take out the Trolls one by one, quickly.\u00a0Keep in mind: the pots are dead silent, so always have your eyes on adjacent Trolls. Don\u2019t stay in one place for long, and don\u2019t spam attacks for too long. If things start looking dangerous, be ready to jump down the walls and regroup. Whatever you do,\u00a0avoid approaching from the southeast side of the Castle. That path almost guarantees you get ambushed 1v3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Castle isn\u2019t always guarded by pot-throwing Trolls. Sometimes you\u2019ll encounter Knights instead, who are still dangerous, but way more manageable. Because of this, a shared sentiment has formed among players: if the Castle has pot-throwing Trolls, it\u2019s a hard pass. And honestly, just walking away and exploring somewhere else is another completely valid strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
