The long-running Dynasty Warriors series is one of Koei Tecmo\u2019s best-selling IPs, with lifetime sales exceeding 21 million copies as of March 2025<\/a>. However, despite its popularity in regions like Japan and China, the franchise still hasn\u2019t quite reached \u201chit\u201d status in the Western sphere, as recently shared by series producer Tomohiko Sho. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to GamesMarkt<\/a>, Sho says that the Dynasty Warriors series is \u201cnot yet in a position to be called a success in the West,\u201d suggesting that the franchise\u2019s performance is still largely carried by sales in the Asian region. However, Omega Force sees potential for Dynasty Warrior\u2019s expansion in the West and is optimistic about their future releases gaining more traction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the franchise\u2019s latest entry, has sold over 1 million copies to date. Its domestic release was especially successful<\/a>, with the title selling 63,805 physical units on the PS5 during its first week (coming second only to Nintendo\u2019s Donkey Kong Country Returns HD) and topping Japan\u2019s Steam sales charts. Origins\u2019 popularity in China is also impressive, as around 14k of its 20,588 reviews on Steam are in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) at the time of writing. While this is to be expected given that the franchise is based on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Omega Force considers the Western market \u201cvery important\u201d too, and will be focusing on attracting new fans through future entries.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
