Nintendo has turned to Samsung to help manufacture the main chips for the Switch 2, as reported by Bloomberg<\/a>. According to anonymous sources, this decision should allow Nintendo to manufacture and ship more than 20 million units by the end of March 2025, higher than Nintendo\u2019s initial sales forecast of 15 million units<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In place of Taiwan-based TSMC (who manufactured chips for the original Switch) Samsung is now working on the customized chip designed by NVIDIA for the Switch 2. As a result, Nintendo\u2019s chip supply will be strong enough to significantly ramp up production. Samsung can supposedly even provide enough Switch 2 parts to exceed the 20-million-figure, but production capacity will also depend on how much assembly can keep up.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloomberg\u2019s sources say that switching from TSMC to Samsung was a favorable move for Nintendo, as this means they no longer have to compete with TSMC\u2019s other big clients for production capacity. This checks out with Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa\u2019s comments about the company taking various measures to ramp up production of the Switch 2 in order to meet the overwhelming demand for the console<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
