While the merch is impressive too (such as 1:1 scale replicas of <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/MFF901018.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Garnet\u2019s necklace<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/MFF901025_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vivi\u2019s hat<\/a>), the character profiles are especially of interest to fans as many hope they&#8217;re hinting at a possible remake.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1018\" height=\"561\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1018px) 100vw, 1018px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-001.jpg\" alt=\"Final Fantasy 9\" class=\"wp-image-48121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-001.jpg 1018w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-001-380x209.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-001-768x423.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By clicking on mugshots of Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, or Adelbert, you will be able to view new art by character designer Toshiyuki Itahana created in celebration of the 25-year milestone. Besides the art, you will find each character\u2019s full name, one of their memorable quotes, and a quick summary of their story. The character summaries are interesting, as they usually accompany upcoming announcements or releases. While the summaries give a quick rundown of the characters, they do not spoil the important events of Final Fantasy IX.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1008\" height=\"576\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1008px) 100vw, 1008px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-002.jpg\" alt=\"Final Fantasy 9\" class=\"wp-image-48122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-002.jpg 1008w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-002-380x217.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250519-48116-002-768x439.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though Square Enix has planned various collaborations and products to commemorate Final Fantasy IX\u2019s 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary \u2013 including a <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/9784757598737.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prequel picture book<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/SQEX_11177.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">music vinyl<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/MFF901009.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plushies<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/store.jp.square-enix.com\/category\/34\/MFF901021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bags<\/a> \u2013 a full-on remake has yet to be confirmed. While it may not have as big a fanbase as Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy VIII, <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/final-fantasy\/final-fantasy-14-yoshi-p-was-initially-unsure-about-referencing-final-fantasy-9-in-dawntrail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Final Fantasy IX is beloved by many<\/a> for sticking to the more traditional fantasy roots of the franchise. Hopefully Square Enix will have something to announce come Final Fantasy IX\u2019s 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary this July 7.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Final Fantasy IX first released for the PlayStation 1 on July 7, 2000 in Japan.
