Sega Sammy Holdings has published its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. Due to a significantly smaller number of new releases during the fiscal year, Sega\u2019s console game sector (part of its entertainment business) saw yearly sales fall by 3.2% to approximately $1.5 b. But despite the dip in sales, operating profit actually rose by 28.3% to $189 million (as reported by GameBiz)<\/a>. This is attributed to strong sales of past releases and DLC.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the previous year\u2019s 13 full releases, Sega\u2019s console game sector put out 6 titles in fiscal year 2025, resulting in software sales of new titles falling from 9.23 million to 6.57 million units. However, sales of past titles from Sega\u2019s catalogue increased significantly, from 18.66 million units to 24.87 million units \u2013 with associated revenue rising by 29.6% compared to last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among its new releases, Sega cites Sonic X Shadow Generations, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Like a Dragon Gaiden: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii as performing strongly. Combined with revenue from past titles, DLC and licensing, these helped Sega offset the losses it incurred from cancelling Football Manager 25<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for Sega\u2019s free-to-play mobile and PC online games, section revenue fell by 12.6% to $318 million. As the company didn\u2019t release any new titles during the year, revenue came only from existing games, one of which was shut down during the period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
