The move, which cost Sega Sammy Holdings an estimated 20.93 billion JPY (roughly $146 million USD), is meant to strengthen the Japanese conglomerate\u2019s gambling division to cover a more digital and global audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamebiz.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/gamebiz.jp\/news\/404976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GameBiz<\/a>, Stakelogic officially became a part of Sega Sammy on April 28, 2025 \u2013 more than nine months after the acquisition was first announced on July 26, 2024. Between the announcement and acquisition, Sega Sammy grew reluctant about the deal and appealed to withdraw from it due to Stakelogic\u2019s parent company Triple Bells allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/legal-compliance\/court-rejects-sega-sammy-stakelogic-spa-exit-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">breaching the share and purchase agreement<\/a>. As the company allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/next.io\/news\/investment\/sega-sammy-loses-legal-fight-cancel-stakelogic-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">violated gambling regulations<\/a> in Japan and Turkey, Sega Sammy cited that it could potentially risk facing criminal liability if it went through with the deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Amsterdam District Court ruled that Sega Sammy must uphold its part of the agreement or risk paying a \u20ac140 million ($159 million USD) fine.
