In a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/article\/202504\/40118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>, he talked about the actual extent of his involvement in the new title\u2019s development and how faithfully it inherits the essence of the series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Pre-Order Trailer | Switch, Switch 2, Steam\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yCCU8sCSwyY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Officially, Uchikoshi is credited on No Sleep For Kaname Date as \u201cseries director\u201d and \u201cscenario supervisor,\u201d with Kazuya Yamada replacing him as game director and scenario writer. According to the dev team, they decided on this arrangement because they saw a high demand for a new Somnium game among fans, but Uchikoshi (who is now part of Too Kyo Games) was too busy to helm a new project himself. As such, they decided to fill the gap with a spin-off entry under his supervision.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elaborating on his role in development, Uchikoshi comments, \u201cI read through the plots and scenarios written by Yamada and gave him feedback. My demands were quite strict, so at first, I was sure he wouldn\u2019t accept all of them. However, I was surprised when I saw that he implemented everything I wanted him to.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1508\" height=\"844\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1508px) 100vw, 1508px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250424-47413-001.jpg\" alt=\"No Sleep For Kaname Date \u2013 From AI: The Somnium Files\" class=\"wp-image-47416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250424-47413-001.jpg 1508w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250424-47413-001-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250424-47413-001-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Uchikoshi goes on to say fans of the franchise have nothing to worry about when it comes to No Sleep For Kaname Date not being written by him, as he was \u201cfrightened by how well it compared to the AI series so far\u201d when playtesting the game. \u201cThe storyline and portrayal of the characters were as if I had written them \u2013 my know-how has been completely stolen from me,\u201d he jokes.
