Japan\u2019s instant cup noodle authority Nissin says no, and they\u2019re using <strong>Metal Geal Rising: Revengeance<\/strong> to drive their point home. Nissin has a penchant for creating <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/legendary-guilty-gear-x2-esports-moment-immortalized-in-nissin-commercial-featuring-daigo-umehara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">outlandish video game-related ads<\/a> for its <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20230913-21595\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cup Noodle products<\/a>, and its new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance commercial is no exception. Set within the game\u2019s finale, the advertisement sees Raiden and Senator Armstrong arguing over which Cup Noodle eating utensil is superior:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"ja\" dir=\"ltr\">\u30ab\u30d7\u30cc\u304c\u672c\u6765\u98df\u3079\u3089\u308c\u308b\u3079\u304d\u59ff\u3092<br>\u53d6\u308a\u623b\u3059\u3063\u3066\u308f\u3051\u3060\uff01<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%BF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AE%E3%82%A2?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#\u30e1\u30bf\u30eb\u30ae\u30a2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EKuGPDC8Pi\">pic.twitter.com\/EKuGPDC8Pi<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u30ab\u30c3\u30d7\u30cc\u30fc\u30c9\u30eb (@cupnoodle_jp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cupnoodle_jp\/status\/1906891767120634074?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 1, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Whereas <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/U5DIddYUWUE?si=cxTfiunuEHhnZBfz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the original fight between Raiden and Senator Armstrong<\/a> was a physical and verbal clash of ideals and nanomachines, the Nissin Cup Noodle commercial features a heated debate about chopsticks and forks. Raiden\u2019s argument that chopsticks are the best way to consume Cup Noodles is quickly shut down by Armstrong\u2019s brazen declaration that eating them with a fork is the way to go. Armstrong\u2019s physical attacks on Raiden help drive his point home and add much to the commercial\u2019s humor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s interesting is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cupnoodle.jp\/fork\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nissin conducted various surveys regarding the whole chopstick-fork debate<\/a>. According to the data, 93% of people (likely in Japan) eat cup ramen using chopsticks. Nissin conducted an internal survey and found that 94% of its employees eat cup ramen with chopsticks as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1346\" height=\"754\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1346px) 100vw, 1346px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250401-46569-001.jpg\" alt=\"Armstrong in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance\" class=\"wp-image-46574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250401-46569-001.jpg 1346w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250401-46569-001-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/20250401-46569-001-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the flip side, when Nissin asked people to compare the taste of cup noodles when eaten with chopsticks versus a fork, those surveyed said that eating noodles with a fork made them taste 30% better. Based on these results, various hypotheses were made. For example: eating with a fork allows you to grab more noodles and toppings at the same time. It\u2019s also more convenient, as you can scoop up leftover toppings from the bottom of the cup easily.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As funny as the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance commercial is, there are a lot of studies being conducted regarding the various cup noodle-eating methods.
