Though mainly an action RPG, it borrows elements from multiple game genres like bullet hell shooters and puzzle games. Add in the unique stories of the androids 2B, 9S, and A2 that are complimented by a riveting cast of supporting characters and a soundtrack composed by Keiichi Okabe, Keigo Hoashi, Kuniyuki Takahashi, and Kakeru Ishihama, and NieR: Automata keeps players on their toes and tugs at their heartstrings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1150\" height=\"644\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1150px) 100vw, 1150px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-header.jpg\" alt=\"NieR: Automata and Stellar Blade collaboration\" class=\"wp-image-44712\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-header.jpg 1150w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-header-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-header-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the original game, both the world and the story of NieR: Automata have been translated into other media. In 2014, Yoko Taro created a stage play titled \u201cYoRHa\u201d, which served as a backstory for the 2017 game. Various books including manga, novels, and artbooks were written to complement and retell the game\u2019s events, as was the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20220928-15917\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime produced by Square Enix and Aniplex<\/a>. NieR: Automata characters and outfits have also made appearances in other games such as Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/yoko-taro-says-stellar-blade-is-much-better-than-nier-automata-but-hyung-tae-kim-thinks-it-cant-compete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stellar Blade<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20240220-27481\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising<\/a>, and Tom Clancy\u2019s Rainbow Six Siege, just to name a few.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1505\" height=\"837\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1505px) 100vw, 1505px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-001.jpg\" alt=\"Nier series 15th anniversary livestream announcement\" class=\"wp-image-44713\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-001.jpg 1505w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-001-380x211.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250225-44709-001-768x427.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While Yoko Taro is ecstatic about NieR: Automata\u2019s eighth anniversary, Square Enix is already preparing to celebrate the NieR\u2019s upcoming 15th anniversary, as the franchise began with the release of the original NieR on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 19 at 6 pm Japan Standard Time (JST), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/3FQD3gUBShw?si=TEd-HYXqof5hyx2m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Square Enix YouTube channel<\/a> will host a Nier series 15<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary livestream. The livestream will be attended by game director Yoko Taro, game producer Yosuke Saito, senior game designer Takahisa Taura, composer Keiichi Okabe, and Grimoire Weiss\u2019s Japanese voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto \u2013 who will talk about the games as well as upcoming events and merchandise. Fans are hoping that the occasion may also be accompanied by information on a new entry to the franchise.
