This comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/the-pokemon-company-wins-15-million-copyright-infringement-lawsuit-against-china-based-game-developers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an update in September<\/a>, when the company revealed that it had won a court ruling in its favor. At the time, two of the companies ordered to compensate The Pok\u00e9mon Company had filed appeals against the ruling, but it seems the case has finally been settled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit was initially filed back in December 2021 against multiple companies involved in developing and publishing Pocket Monster: Remake, aka The Pocket Journey (in our previous report, we erroneously referred to the game as \u201cPocket Monster Reissue\u201d). First released in 2015, this turn-based mobile game featured character and creature designs that quite blatantly copied the Pok\u00e9mon series, including iconic poster characters like Ash Ketchum and Pikachu.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"{\u53e3\u888b\u5996\u602a\u590d\u523b\uff5d\u6912\u76d0\u76ae\u76ae\u867e\u7684pvp\u738b\u8005\u4e4b\u8def \u51fa\u6765\u5427\u4e9a\u53e4\u517d vs.sv3\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Nog1UutGX4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the offending game having made upwards of $42 million in revenue in a single year, The Pok\u00e9mon Company originally claimed an estimated $72 million in damages and demanded public apologies from the companies involved across all major social media platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shenzhen Intermediate People\u2019s Court ruled in favor of The Pok\u00e9mon Company in September, accusing the defendants of violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act and ordering them to pay 107 million yuan (around $15 million USD). However, two of the companies involved (Guangzhou Maichi Network Technology and Khorgos Fangchi Network Technology) filed an appeal to overturn the ruling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"720\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/pokemon-20240917-310929-header.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/pokemon-20240917-310929-header.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/pokemon-20240917-310929-header-380x228.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/pokemon-20240917-310929-header-768x461.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 18, a second hearing was held, where the parties involved reached a mediated settlement regarding compensation (which Guangzhou Maichi Network Technology <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.pokemon.co.jp\/media\/news\/news_352_update_0219.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">describes<\/a> as \u201ca huge sum\u201d).
