Since then, Taiwan has been under the umbrella of Nintendo Hong Kong. However, on April 1, Nintendo\u2019s business in Taiwan will be transferred over to the new subsidiary.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespark.jp\/article\/2025\/02\/18\/149593.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Game*Spark<\/a>, this decision has been made to strengthen Nintendo\u2019s business in Taiwan and improve customer service. Nintendo Switch Online services have been very limited in Taiwan, only covering updates, friends, and social media functions. It is not possible to buy anything from the Nintendo eShop nor play online games. Without an online storefront, Switch users in Taiwan have to rely on the more limited game selection offered by local retailers, often at higher prices). Consequently, the Japanese Nintendo eShop was one of Taiwanese gamers\u2019 go-to places to buy Switch games, however from March 25 onwards, the <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/japanese-nintendo-store-will-no-longer-accept-credit-cards-issued-abroad-and-overseas-paypal-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Japanese store will no longer accept credit cards issued overseas.<\/a> &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1022\" height=\"554\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1022px) 100vw, 1022px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250219-44505-001.jpg\" alt=\"Nintendo Switch OLED Taiwan advert\" class=\"wp-image-44509\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250219-44505-001.jpg 1022w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250219-44505-001-380x206.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250219-44505-001-768x416.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, this news of a new Taiwan subsidiary seems to have made local gamers excited in the hopes that the current situation will improve, and that Taiwan will get its own online store front. \u201cWe don\u2019t have a Nintendo e-Shop for Taiwan, so it would be great if they take this opportunity to set one up!\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.esuteru.com\/archives\/10330025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one commenter<\/a>, although they also reminisced about the online service being very slow in Taiwan back in the Wii days.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also worth noting that Nintendo really <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2024\/01\/nintendo-celebrates-switch-in-style-with-packed-taipei-game-show-booth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pulled out all the stops at Taipei Game Show<\/a> last year, with a huge booth prominently featuring characters from many switch games (there was even an animatronic Kirby&#8230;).
