Nintendo announced today that it will be discontinuing its Gold Points reward system. This means that Switch players will no longer be able to earn Gold Points on the majority of digital and physical game purchases after March 25, 2025 JST (or March 24, depending on your time zone).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, according to the official announcements in Japanese<\/a> and English,<\/a> there are some exceptions whereby you can still claim your points even after the cutoff date. For example, if you have already preordered a game that releases after March 25, you will still get Gold Points for it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although physical software released on or after March 25 is not eligible for points, you will still be able to claim Gold Points for purchases of physical software that was released before the cutoff date, even if you bought it after March 25. Gold Points will still be valid for 12 months after you have collected them. Platinum Points are unaffected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No reason has been given for the phasing out of Nintendo Gold Points. Perhaps Nintendo is gearing up to focus its energies on creating a new point scheme for the upcoming Switch 2<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excluding the exceptions above, users will no longer be able to earn My Nintendo Gold Points after March 24 at 9:30pm (PDT)\/March 25 at 1:30pm (JST). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
