After 3 years of providing Resident Evil fans with a means to vent their frustrations in a multiplayer game mode, Resident Evil Re:Verse is finally shutting down<\/a> on June 29, 2025 at 11:59 pm PDT. The game and its associated DLC will be removed from online stores starting March 3, 2025 at 9 pm PST, whereupon Resident Evil ReVerse will also not be included with copies of Resident Evil Village.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resident Evil Re:Verse was initially supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil Village in 2021 before it was delayed to October 28, 2022 (those who bought Resident Evil Village were given a bundled digital copy of Resident Evil ReVerse nevertheless). Developed to celebrate the franchise\u2019s 25th<\/sup> anniversary, the third-person, free-for-all multiplayer shooter was a drastic shift away from the traditional Resident Evil formula.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Resident Evil ReVerse, two to six players fight in a single lobby to see who scores the most Result Points (RP) within the time limit. Eliminated humans\u00a0 transform into bioweapons and wreak havoc across the battlefield. The presence of these bioweapons force other players to momentarily set aside their differences to take the stronger foe down. Once defeated, the player who was transformed into a bioweapon respawns as a human. More RP is awarded to players who achieve multiple eliminations, as well as to those who downed one of the top three competitors on the leaderboard.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes Resident Evil ReVerse more appealing than the standard multiplayer shooter fare is that all of the playable characters are from the Resident Evil franchise. From humans like Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Jill Valentine to bioweapons like the Super Tyrant, Jack Baker, and Nemesis, Resident Evil fans are spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a character.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, Resident Evil ReVerse\u2019s balance issues, over-reliance on microtransactions, and Capcom ID requirement have caused the player count to dwindle. At its peak, the game had 2,115 players on Steam (source: SteamDB<\/a>). Nowadays, Resident Evil Re:Verse can barely hit 24 players over a full day, with 8 players currently online at the time of writing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering that all purchased RP boosters and Premium Passes will expire once the service ends, players might want to get the most out of their Resident Evil ReVerse experience before the servers close. Those who still have their Resident Evil ReVerse download codes from purchasing Resident Evil Village can use them until the service ends on June 29. However, they may have trouble finding a full lobby to enjoy what was intended to be a celebration of the franchise.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
