Studio Mir\u2019s Devil May Cry<\/strong> Netflix series has a lot going on in its opening credits<\/a>, and it\u2019s not just because of Limp Bizkit\u2019s \u201cRollin\u2019 (Air Raid Vehicle)\u201d \u00a0playing in the background. The OP has a ton of references to the Devil May Cry games. Here are some of the best ones:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Swords<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Multiple Devil Arms are on display <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some of Dante\u2019s most iconic weapons<\/a> present themselves even before the main character appears. While Rebellion takes center stage, Devil Arms like Alastor, Force Edge, Agni & Rudra, Merciless, and Vendetta can also be found strewn across the battlefield. Lucia\u2019s Klyamoor swords, which first appeared in Devil May Cry 2, are also embedded in the ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Yamato<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Certain weapons are worth mentioning. First, the Yamato occasionally fades in and out; replacing the Rebellion in certain scenes. Devil May Cry fans will know that this katana belongs to Vergil, Dante\u2019s older twin brother who will be making an appearance in the series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second noteworthy weapon is the Durandal, located on the leftmost side in front of Agni. Some may think this sword is Nero\u2019s Red Queen, which was introduced in Devil May Cry 4, but this is unlikely since Nero would be too young given Dante\u2019s and Vergil\u2019s apparent ages. The Durandal is the standard issue blade given to members of the Order of the Sword, which leads us to\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Insignia<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Order of the Sword is involved in the plot <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The insignia of the Order of the Sword can be seen amidst the silhouettes of unconfirmed\/ <\/s>new characters and demons. Introduced in Devil May Cry 4, the Order reveres the demon rebel Sparda as a god and seeks to eliminate all demons in his name.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has yet to be confirmed if the animated series will take place on the Order\u2019s island base in Fortuna, but this may not be the case considering Dante hears about them for the first time in Devil May Cry 4 from Lady.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lady and Vergil are here too <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As Dante first meets Lady in Devil May 3: Dante\u2019s Awakening, the femme fatale\u2019s appearance in the animated series could hint that it takes place between Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry (3 being a prequel). Conversely, Dante and Lady might not interact in the Netflix series, and their stories may only draw parallels to each other without intersecting.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vergil is the opposite of Lady, as he and Dante have been at odds ever since they were young. Producer Adi Shankar confirmed that Lady and Vergil will play a part in the Netflix series<\/a>, but seeing them animated for the first time, however brief, is still a sight for sore eyes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Sparda<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Sparda plays an integral role yet again <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a long-running tradition that Dante and Vergil\u2019s father, Sparda, never officially appears in the games apart from murals, sculptures, and alternate costumes. His appearance in the Netflix series\u2019 opening credits may be similar in that his existence serves as an integral backstory to the narrative. Considering the Order of the Sword and demons are involved, you can\u2019t have a good Devil May Cry story without Sparda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Soldier<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Other noteworthy Easter eggs can be found in the opening credits <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While not as important, there are a few Easter eggs that make nods to the Devil May Cry games and Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. A soldier that gets killed in the opening credits looks very similar to the one Nero meets at the start of Devil May Cry 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Strawberry<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Many fans are familiar with Dante\u2019s obsession with pizza, but his favorite dessert, a strawberry sundae, was introduced in Madhouse\u2019s Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. Similarly, Devil May Cry characters such as J.D. Morrison and Patty Lowell were introduced in the 2007 anime and eventually found their way into the main games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be interesting to see how Netflix\u2019s Devil May Cry adapts over 20 years of lore into the animated series. Fan favorite weapons and characters have already been shown to make an appearance, so all that\u2019s left is to integrate them properly into a well-told story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
