As soon as the first episode aired, viewers started pointing out issues, such as the poor animation quality. However, a dance scene (below) from the anime\u2019s third episode gained much attention for looking hilariously awkward. Things escalated to the point of the \u201cOsamake Dance\u201d becoming a long-running meme on Japanese social media, with people making parodies and even dance covers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"ja\" dir=\"ltr\">\u30a2\u30cb\u30e1\u306b\u304a\u3051\u308b\u3084\u3070\u3044\u30c0\u30f3\u30b9\u30b7\u30fc\u30f3\u3068\u8a00\u3048\u3070\u3084\u306f\u308a\u3053\u308c <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8irU2sahNS\">pic.twitter.com\/8irU2sahNS<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u30cf\u30eb\u30cf\u30eb@\u30a2\u30cb\u30e9\u30d6\u5973\u5b50 (@haruharuAniaka2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/haruharuAniaka2\/status\/1877298238472028452?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 9, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While becoming a viral meme certainly boosted the title\u2019s reach, it did not help it commercially \u2013 in fact, the whole thing has made sales of the Osamake light novel series completely lose momentum, according to Nimura. In a lengthy post on their <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nimarushuichi\/status\/1879597100578791523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">personal X account<\/a> from January 16, the author says that figures for the first edition of Osamake\u2019s final volume are \u201cterrible,\u201d not reaching even a tenth of the first volume\u2019s performance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nimura acknowledges that it\u2019s common for sales to slow following the airing of an anime adaptation, but that in the case of Osamake, sales took a drastic nosedive right around when the anime started generating buzz.
