The YouTube channel in question was ASMR Church of Christ (ASMR\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u6559\u4f1a), which describes itself as a cyber-church that preaches Christianity through ASMR, adding that \u201ccute voice actors will heal you through whispered recitals of the Bible.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With many of the videos featuring images of doe-eyed anime girls in slightly provocative poses, plus absurd thumbnail captions, the strange combination elicited puzzled and bemused reactions from Japanese commenters on X. It also left Automaton West writers equally confused and amused.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"don-t-worry-sonic-the-hedgehog-is-still-homeless\"><strong>Don\u2019t worry, Sonic the Hedgehog is still homeless<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"565\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-002.jpeg\" alt=\"Homeless Sonic the Hedgehog\" class=\"wp-image-42201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-002.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-002-380x215.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-002-768x434.jpeg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In November, <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/sonic-the-hedgehog-is-still-homeless-sega-confirms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eagle-eyed Sonic fans were quick to contact Sega<\/a> about a glaring error in the Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2025. The book declared that \u201cSonic lives in Green Hill Zone,\u201d when, in fact, diehard Sonic fans know that Sega\u2019s speedy blue mascot is a homeless drifter and always has been. Sonic series associate lore manager <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MisterCrits\/status\/1856767895088570382\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MisterCrits<\/a> was quick to thank fans for pointing out the mistake and assure them that nothing has changed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not everyone was aware that Sonic is homeless, which prompted some surprised reactions to this piece of lore too. Personally, I always had this image of him in a cozy cottage with a chimney, where he invites Tails and Ami around for tea&#8230;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In reality, Sonic drifts from place to place, setting up camp where he can and sometimes having a kip in his lab. Perhaps nowadays, he also sleeps in his souped-up car from Team Sonic Racing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"that-time-a-man-was-acquitted-because-of-his-sexual-attraction-to-gundam\"><strong>That time a man was acquitted because of his \u201csexual attraction to Gundam\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"470\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-003.jpeg\" alt=\"Sexual attraction to Gundam case\" class=\"wp-image-42210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-003.jpeg 900w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-003-380x198.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-003-768x401.jpeg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/man-acquitted-upskirting-charges-sexual-attraction-gundam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">real-life Japanese court case<\/a> which resulted in a bizarre Ace Attorney-style acquittal gained attention after it was featured on a Japanese TV program in April 2024.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case involved a man being accused by a woman of taking an upskirt photo of her while she was riding a train station escalator. The man confessed and apologized at the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, once the case reached the appeals court, it was determined that the man was admiring Gundam pictures and not taking photos. No upskirt photos were found on his phone either. His defense lawyer argued that the object of the defendant\u2019s sexual attraction was not women, but Gundam &#8211; and he ended up winning the case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"japanese-ramen-for-gamers-packed-in-a-tube-to-suck-on\"><strong>Japanese Ramen, for gamers, <\/strong><strong>packed in a<\/strong><strong> tube<\/strong><strong> to suck on<\/strong><strong>&#8230;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"651\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-004.jpeg\" alt=\"tubed ramen for gamers\" class=\"wp-image-42211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-004.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-004-380x247.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241231-42196-004-768x500.jpeg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It feels like we spent most of 2024 salivating over amazing-looking food in games, including Unicorn Overlord, Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2 and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. However, some of the real-life food we covered was&#8230; less appetizing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July, we <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/japan-is-making-weird-tubed-ramen-for-gamers-to-eat-with-one-hand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported that Japanese food processing giant Nippon Ham was releasing Boost Noodle<\/a>, an instant ramen aimed at eSports players. The pouch of ramen in jelly-like pork broth is designed as a one-handed food that can be squeezed straight into your hungry mouth. The blatant Pok\u00e9mon rip-off game not only features a whole Pokedex worth of familiar looking monsters and trainers, but also comes with flashy animated movies, some of which made us mourn the lost innocence of childhood. There\u2019s just no unseeing a big-breasted, fake Gardevoir dominatrix tying up a fake Psyduck who is totally into it.
