The new Majima-centered action title is a spin-off of Infinite Wealth, making it a smaller entry to the franchise. However, as teased by RGG Studio shortly after the announcement, it will still be significantly longer than the series\u2019 previous spin-off game, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii | Announce Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GCmDF0NqZQc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Like a Dragon Gaiden was well received by fans for its compact format and shorter playing time compared to other titles in the series, we asked Like a Dragon\u2019s developers about the reason behind Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii\u2019s increased volume.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to RGG Studio\u2019s director Masayoshi Yokoyama, the team didn\u2019t actually set out to make Majima\u2019s game longer on purpose, but rather, \u201cIt\u2019s more like the volume \u2018ended up\u2019 increasing due to the story.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The volume of a game is determined by the length of its main storyline, Yokoyama explains, and the main story for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii turned out to be 1.3 times longer than that of Gaiden\u2019s, resulting in a bigger game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1128\" height=\"631\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1128px) 100vw, 1128px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241223-41914-005.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41922\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241223-41914-005.jpg 1128w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241223-41914-005-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241223-41914-005-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Yokoyama says that developers can increase a game\u2019s volume as much as they want \u201cif they try hard enough,\u201d such as by adding fetch quests for the player to spend time on, but Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii came out longer than Gaiden without RGG Studio doing such things. \u201cThe map is huge, there\u2019s a bunch of places to visit, and there are still features we haven\u2019t announced yet. The volume increased by itself.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the team, the most straightforward indicator of how Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii compares to Gaiden in terms of volume (and the trouble they went through to make it) is price. The upcoming title retails for $59.99 USD, making it 10 dollars more expensive than Gaiden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is scheduled to release on February 21, 2025 for the PC (Steam), PS4\/PS5 and Xbox One\/Xbox Series X|S.
