While we\u2019ve yet to hear any more details about the project since the teaser shown at The Game Awards 2024, RGG Studios has been making mysterious references to the new game on social media &#8211; fueling excitement and wild speculation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"ja\" dir=\"ltr\">\u3061\u3087\u3063\u3068\u5f85\u3063\u3066\u306d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/N2hkLB5Z53\">pic.twitter.com\/N2hkLB5Z53<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u6a2a\u5c71\u660c\u7fa9 (@yokoyama_masa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yokoyama_masa\/status\/1868823727687057888?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 17, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On his personal X account, RGG Studio\u2019s director Masayoshi Yokoyama posted a picture of himself wearing a traditional Japanese happi coat, with the caption \u201cPlease wait a bit, okay?,\u201d suggesting that we will get more news soon. At the same time, RGG Studio\u2019s official English account posted an image of Snoop Dogg in a mirrored pose donning a matching happi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;&#8230;yet.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PZVRac0ag9\">pic.twitter.com\/PZVRac0ag9<\/a><\/p>&mdash; RGG Studio | Like a Dragon &amp; Yakuza Series (@RGGStudio) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RGGStudio\/status\/1868824408225382702?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 17, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Japanese on the back of both happi reads \u201cYashima Trade Company,\u201d which also appeared in the teaser for Project Century. From what we saw in the game\u2019s alpha build footage, Project Century depicts some kind of conflict taking place in 1915, during Japan\u2019s Taisho era. A character who appears to be the protagonist of the game wears a happi with the same \u201cYashima Trade Company\u201d logo on the back.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Project Century World Premiere Trailer from The Game Awards 2024\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-hihuPFku9I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the game is still shrouded in mystery, fans on social media have started speculating that Project Century may tell the story of the rival Tojo Clan that appears in the Yakuza series. This is because it&#8217;s assumed that the Tojo Clan was founded in the early 1900s. As such, it\u2019s possible that Project Century\u2019s protagonist will be a young Makoto Tojo \u2013 the founder and first boss of the Tojo Clan. In the Yakuza games, Makoto is only mentioned briefly in a description, so the prospect of learning the entire origin story of the clan is generating a lot of excitement.
