In addition to the news that the reboot will be produced by Italian game studio Milestone (the rebranded company behind the original Screamer), it was revealed that Polygon Pictures will be producing animated scenes for the game, as seen in the trailer below:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Screamer - Teaser Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8ohDOlboyZg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Established over 40 years ago, Polygon Pictures is known for its 3DCG contributions to anime films such as Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, the Ajin trilogy, and Blame! It has also worked on a wide range of video games. The studio did the opening animation for Street Fighter IV and provided character and background designs for Street Fighter V, also producing the latter\u2019s opening and trailer movies. Recently it collaborated with Cygames on the stunning 3D anime action RPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-header.jpg\" alt=\"Screamer racing game reboot trailer Milestone Polygon Pictures\" class=\"wp-image-41541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-header.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-header-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-header-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Polygon Pictures Executive Producer and Head of International Business Development Jack Liang via <a href=\"https:\/\/gamebiz.jp\/news\/397602\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gamebiz<\/a>, many members of the studio grew up playing Screamer and are proud to be working with Milestone on the upcoming reboot:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMilestone offers high-quality action, innovative style, and immersive experiences, which is in line with our mission to deliver unparalleled quality to the world. We can&#8217;t wait for everyone to experience the new Screamer.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The original Screamer was released for MS-DOS computers in 1995 and uses texture-mapped polygon-modelled tracks and cars, making it look a lot like Namco\u2019s Ridge Racer (1993) &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20220414-11541\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a game that has had a profound impact on many developers<\/a>. Three sequels were produced &#8211; including Screamer 2, Screamer Rally, and Screamer 4&#215;4 &#8211; with each entry deviating from the series\u2019 roots.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-002.jpg\" alt=\"Screamer Reboot futuristic city\" class=\"wp-image-41540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-002.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-002-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/20241216-41537-002-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The upcoming Screamer reboot looks to bring things back to the road racing origins of the original, where players are taken to a futuristic city to race to their hearts\u2019 content. For the first time, it looks as though Screamer will have a story, as Milestone says that the game will feature \u201ca deep storyline enriched by interwoven character arcs that draw inspiration from anime and manga from the \u201980s and \u201990s.\u201d The game will also \u201ccombine plot themes of human will, revenge, love, and greed with classic science fiction imagery; immersing players in the clash between personal desires and external forces that seek to control them.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a lot of narrative-heavy promises to put into a racing video game but if anyone were to pull it off successfully, it would have to be a studio like Milestone that has almost 30 years of experience with the genre.
