Take was involved with the adaptation\u2019s script from its early stages, and he says he \u201cfelt strong elements of American film\u201d in the initial draft.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He illustrates this point with the example of gunfights, which there were apparently a lot more of at first. \u201cIt would have been tough to include a lot of gunfights as is, so we worked back and forth, making revisions. For a Japanese drama, hand-to-hand action feels more natural than guns, but we tried to keep in mind what kind of drama Americans want to watch.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1255\" height=\"710\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1255px) 100vw, 1255px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241115-39966-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39970\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241115-39966-001.jpg 1255w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241115-39966-001-380x215.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241115-39966-001-768x434.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The director also found the injection of American sensibilities into Yakuza: Like a Dragon refreshing, such as the addition of the sensitive topic of patricide. &#8220;The Americans purposely threw a taboo theme into the script.
