Japanese mobile game developer Bank of Innovation (BOI)<\/strong> released a presentation covering its long-term strategy on November 12. The company, which is best known outside Japan for the AFK RPG Memento Mori, has plans to greatly expand and strengthen its global reach, centered around two ambitious large-scale RPG titles it is currently working on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BOI has previously developed and operated the online co-op games Cryptract (2015-2023) and Mitrasphere (2017-2023), both of which got English releases (with Cryptract appearing on consoles as well as smartphone platforms). Gamers overseas likely know the company for Memento Mori or the recent Sega lawsuit<\/a>. Going forward, BOI plans to up its global releases and grow into a bigger, more profitable game company.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the presentation<\/a>, BOI states that it is aiming for \u201cexplosive and sustainable profit growth.\u201d At the center of this strategy are two new large-scale RPG projects. Work on the first of these RPGs started in 2017, and it is currently described as \u201cunder development.\u201d The second big RPG project started in 2023, and is in the planning stage now. Leveraging their experience from developing and running Memento Mori, BOI aims for each of these large-scale RPGs to bring in global sales of 1~2 trillion yen within the first month of release, and over 4 billion in each subsequent month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through strengthening global IP development and their presence in the overseas market, BOI hopes that overseas releases will account for 50% of their sales revenue. In addition, BOI is also currently working on releasing upgraded and overseas versions of its Japan-only matching app Koiniwa. At the time of writing, it’s not known which regions the app, which helps people find real-life friends and partners through playing a relaxed farming sim, will be released in.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
