Sony recently revealed the download rankings<\/a> for its Japanese PlayStation Store for October 2024. The rankings include five lists, one for each of the PlayStation\u2019s currently available online platforms (the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR, PlayStation VR2, and a separate list for free-to-play titles). Sony also listed the October rankings for the United States and Canada to show how different titles fared in each country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palword and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are October\u2019s most downloaded PlayStation 5 titles <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the top of Japan\u2019s most downloaded PlayStation 5 titles sits Pocketpair\u2019s Palword which, despite the Nintendo lawsuit<\/a>, has been doing well since its October 4 launch in Japan. Coming in second place is Spike Chunsoft\u2019s Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 reigns supreme as the United States and Canada\u2019s most downloaded PlayStation 5 title, and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero also takes the second place in these countries. Bandai Namco recently revealed <\/a>that 90% of Sparking Zero\u2019s sales have been from the US and Europe, so the high placement doesn\u2019t come as a big surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Monster<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Monster Hunter World and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are the top PlayStation 4 digital titles <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Following the Monster Hunter Wilds beta<\/a>, it looks as though PlayStation 4 owners in Japan are sharpening their skills in Capcom\u2019s Monster Hunter World. This increase in players could also be attributed to Japanese Vtubers<\/a> such as Usada Pekora, Houshou Marine, and Sakura Miko playing the game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who aren\u2019t carving monsters are instead playing Square Enix\u2019s Romancing SaGa: Revenge of the Fallen \u2013 a 3D remake of a beloved classic RPG<\/a> \u2013 which takes the second spot as the second most downloaded PlayStation 4 title in Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s availability on last-generation platforms earns it the top spot as the United States and Canada’s most downloaded PlayStation 4 game. Minecraft’s endless creative possibilities<\/a> allow the game to nab second place despite being thirteen years old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PlayStation VR and VR2 are homes to many sword, wand, and gun-toting titles\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The most downloaded titles for the PlayStation VR2 and VR2 share various similarities.\u00a0Beat Games\u2019 Beat Saber continues to take top spots for the most downloaded digital PlayStation VR2 games in all three countries, with the lightsaber rhythm game being number 1 in Japan and number 2 in the United States and Canada. Taking the second spot in Japan is Into the Radius \u2013 a single-player survival shooter developed by CM Games set in a dystopian location known as the Pechorsk Anomaly Zone. Beating out Beat Saber in the United States and Canada is the Vertigo Games\u2019 light-hearted Arizona Sunshine Remake, which has you killing zombies in a postapocalyptic America.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Kai-ri-Sei<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The PlayStation VR continues to draw in players eight years after its initial launch, with Square Enix RPG Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur VR taking the top spot in Japan and platformer Sony\u2019s Astro Bot Rescue Mission nabbing first place in the United States and Canada. The popularity of Bethesda Game Studios\u2019 worlds hasn\u2019t waned, considering enough people are playing the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR for the game to warrant second place in all three countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free-to-play titles remain lucrative on Sony\u2019s consoles <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

NC Soft\u2019s MMORPG Throne and Liberty rounds out Sony\u2019s lists as the most downloaded free-to-play title on the PlayStation Store in Japan, the United States, and Canada. Things shake up in second place, as MiHoYo\u2019s Genshin Impact is more popular in Japan while Epic Games\u2019 Fortnite remains a mainstay in the United States and Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the placement of these titles could change or stay the same once the November rankings come out.
