The initial problem with the Chainsaw is that it automatically gets swapped out for the much weaker Wooden Plank early into the game. Here\u2019s how to get the Chainsaw and how to switch to it whenever you wish:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-is-the-chainsaw\">Where is the Chainsaw?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-001.jpg\" alt=\"Silent Hill 2 chainsaw location\" class=\"wp-image-39593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-001.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-001-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chainsaw can be found embedded in a log near the Silent Hill Ranch at the start of a New Game+ run. As you pass the abandoned ranch, you\u2019ll hear a telltale revving that isn\u2019t present in a normal run. Interacting with the Chainsaw adds it to your Equipment and gives you the edge over most of the Silent Hill 2 remake\u2019s monsters .&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, the Chainsaw gets swapped out <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/tips\/how-to-deal-with-silent-hill-2-remake-lying-figures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">when James Sunderland encounters his first Lying Figure<\/a>. To keep continuity with the cutscene, James is automatically equipped with the Wooden Plank he pries from a house window.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"swapping-to-the-chainsaw-is-as-easy-as-checking-your-equipment\">Swapping to the Chainsaw is as easy as checking your Equipment&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-002.jpg\" alt=\"Silent Hill 2 chainsaw in inventory\" class=\"wp-image-39592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-002.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-002-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20241111-39585-002-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, the Chainsaw didn\u2019t just magically disappear. Opening your Equipment menu in the Inventory screen will reveal that James tucked it away in one of his jacket\u2019s bottomless pockets. You can equip the Chainsaw from this menu, restoring the overpowered melee weapon into James\u2019s hands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted that James will also automatically swap to the Steel Pipe once he obtains it later in the story.
