In a new pre-launch interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/silent-hill-creator-says-his-new-title-slitterhead-is-a-modern-action-game-take-on-siren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Game*Spark<\/a>, the developers gave some detailed insight into the upcoming title\u2019s battle system and its inspirations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Slitterhead - Gameplay Trailer - SGF 2024\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2mAkn64FQDU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Slitterhead is a 3D action-adventure game coming from Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of horror classics such as Silent Hill and Siren. Toyama has <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/silent-hill-creator-says-his-new-title-slitterhead-is-a-modern-action-game-take-on-siren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously mentioned<\/a> that his latest title is, on a fundamental level, a reinterpretation of Siren as a modern action game. Slitterhead takes Siren\u2019s sightjacking mechanic (that allowed you to take over your opponents\u2019 senses) and expands upon it with its <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/silent-hill-creators-new-game-slitterhead-will-numb-your-ethics-with-its-possession-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">morally ambiguous<\/a> human possession system, steering the game towards battle rather than stealth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking to Game*Spark, Toyama provided some more details about Slitterhead\u2019s battle system. The developer says he decided to pursue battle mechanics (rather than just horror) in Slitterhead to broaden the game\u2019s target audience. In order to create an attractive, modern-feeling battle system, Bokeh Game Studio looked to Elden Ring developer FromSoftware for inspiration. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241022-38753-001.jpg\" alt=\"Slitterhead using humans as weapons to battle monsters\" class=\"wp-image-38757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241022-38753-001.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241022-38753-001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241022-38753-001-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn terms of the game system, we wanted to follow in the footsteps of recent battle action games, so we were conscious of FromSoftware&#8217;s games. In short, you lock on to the enemy, face them, then attack, dodge, and parry. It\u2019s no fun if everything\u2019s the same though, so Okura added the right stick parry.\u201d By Okura, Toyama is referring to Junya Okura, Slitterhead\u2019s game director and battle system designer, who has previously worked on the Siren and Gravity Rush series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, Slitterhead\u2019s difficulty will be different to FromSoftware\u2019s notorious Soulsborne titles.
