If you\u2019re wondering what a CEO like Kim has to do with game design, he is one of the people in charge of the Goddess of Victory: Nikke\u2019s character designs as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/stellar-blade-director-hyung-tae-kim-unveils-protagonist-eves-first-design\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the director, producer, and a designer for Stellar Blade<\/a>. Before his days at Shift Up, he was an artist and designer for titles like Blade and Soul and Magna Carta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1511\" height=\"856\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1511px) 100vw, 1511px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241021-38711-001.jpg\" alt=\"Stellar Blade\" class=\"wp-image-38715\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241021-38711-001.jpg 1511w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241021-38711-001-380x215.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/20241021-38711-001-768x435.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked by Game Watch about his decidedly voluptuous character designs for Stellar Blade and Nikke, Kim comments, &#8220;It&#8217;s not something I do consciously. The users like it and there\u2019s a demand for it, but it&#8217;s also something I personally like, so the designs are just a natural result of me following my instincts.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim delves a little deeper into Goddess of Victory: Nikke\u2019s character design process, saying that his design philosophy has become ingrained within the rest of the staff members:\u00a0\u201cBy the way, the ratio of female creators we have working on Nikke is high, but the team still values these kinds of character designs. It makes me feel almost as if my DNA has had an effect on the staff, which I\u2019m secretly very happy about.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/shift-up-hyung-tae-kim-original-evangelion-designs-for-nikke-were-rejected-for-being-too-erotic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">numerous collaborations<\/a> and alternative outfits in Goddess of Victory: Nikke, Kim says that the most important thing when designing new characters is to make sure they fit into the overarching narrative. Each character\u2019s design elements must fit the story in some way and reflect their personality.
