At Tokyo Game Show 2024, Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka spoke to Famitsu<\/a> about Too Kyoo Games and Media.Vision\u2019s upcoming The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy<\/strong>, giving insights into the game\u2019s mechanics. The creator revealed that a certain feature of the new tactical RPG was inspired by feedback he had received from Danganronpa players. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a story-driven adventure game that features tactical tower-defense-style battles. It promises to put players through \u201c100 days of war and despair\u201d as the lives of their allies are claimed in the battle against invaders. Appropriately, the game will also include 100 \u201cextreme despair-filled” endings that will play out depending on the player\u2019s choices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It seems that this multitude of possible outcomes was something the developers decided to pursue based on past wishes expressed by Danganronpa\u2019s playerbase, as Kodaka comments, \u201cThe life and death of the characters is influenced by the choices that appear throughout the game, so some characters will survive, while others will die depending on what you choose. I\u2019ve been sneakily talking about how [The Hundred Line] is a multi-ending game, but the reason why we made it so that the characters\u2019 survival depends on the player\u2019s choices is because of feedback we received for the Dangranronpa series.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlayers told us it would have been more entertaining if the order in which characters died could be changed or if certain characters could be spared from dying. While it was difficult to do this in Danganronpa due to the nature of the game, we tried to do so in our new title,\u201d Kodaka elaborates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

While not completely devoid of choices, the Danganronpa games were mostly linear in structure, the twists and turns of the trials scripted, and deaths of characters set in stone. This left many players wishing the game offered them more agency, and it seems they will be getting this wish granted in Too Kyoo Games\u2019 brand-new IP. The Hundred Line\u2019s 100-ending-system (crafted skillfully by Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi) will allow players to navigate through various outcomes by jumping to chapters and trying out different choices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is scheduled to launch on April 23, 2025 for the PC (Steam<\/a>) and Nintendo Switch.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
