At the end of the labyrinth under the Silent Hill Historical Society building<\/a>, James Sunderland finds himself in Eddie Dombrowski\u2019s Otherworld; which takes the form of a large meat locker. Unable to calm his mentally deteriorating acquaintance, James is forced to fight Eddie. While Eddie\u2019s large size and firearm make him dangerous, this boss fight boils down to patience and persistence.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase one teaches you to use the arena to your advantage <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"Silent<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Eddie\u2019s boss fight has three phases, although it is mostly the arena that changes throughout the encounter. The meat locker is filled with numerous hanging carcasses and starts off slightly foggy thanks to the low temperature. You\u2019ll still be able to see a short distance ahead, which is invaluable considering Eddie\u2019s main method of attacking is shooting his revolver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first phase, Eddie will always try to stay far away from you as he peppers you with bullets. Using the hanging carcasses as cover, you can then counterattack by shooting Eddie with your own ranged weapons or getting in close for some melee combat.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Damaging Eddie causes him to run and reposition himself, so melee combat seems to be the best option as you can quickly give chase. Aside from his gun, Eddie\u2019s only other attack is an extremely telegraphed grab that always starts with him slowly raising his left hand. Dodge the attack accordingly and punish him for trying to put his hands on you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eddie becomes more melee-focused in phase two <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Eddie\u2019s health gets low enough, he will shoot a pipe to increase the density of cold fog in the arena, signaling the start of phase two. This time, Eddie will focus less on shooting you and adopt more of a melee hit-and-run approach. While he usually attacks once before returning to the shadows, Eddie will sometimes follow a successful strike with another melee attempt. Note that Eddie\u2019s melee strikes tend to pass through the meat carcasses in the arena, so you can\u2019t count on them for protection when you hear him charging at you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these cowardly strikes, Eddie will periodically try to shoot and grab you as he did in phase one. Be alert for the sounds of a gun cocking and footsteps, and be on the lookout for Eddie\u2019s raised hand, as you\u2019ll have less time to react due to the reduced visibility. Dodging Eddie\u2019s melee attacks will provide you with multiple openings to hit him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase three is a deadlier phase one <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, you\u2019ll deal enough damage to Eddie that he activates a mechanism that causes the meat carcasses to move, signaling phase three. Phase three is like a harder version of phase one, as Eddie seems more intent on killing James with his gun than anything else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eddie is more liberal with his ammunition this time around. He will sometimes fire multiple rounds at you before running away, making it important that you don\u2019t allow him to escape. He will also start shooting at close range, giving you almost no time to hide behind cover. Eddie\u2019s shots seem to deal more damage in this phase too, as a single bullet can destroy a carcass and reduce the amount of cover available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from his close-range gun attack and multiple gunshots, Eddie behaves pretty much the same as he did in the first phase. Be aware of how much cover is available, keep on his tail, and dodge when necessary (dodging also allows you to avoid getting shot even without cover). After a long fight, you\u2019ll kill Eddie, netting you the \u201cA Human Being\u201d achievement and passage to the Lakeview Hotel.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
