Gotcha Gotcha Games, the Japanese developer of the \u201cMaker Series\u201d of accessible game development toolkits, announced on September 24 that they are partnering up with W4 Games, a company founded by Godot Engine developers. Through this strategic partnership, they hope to add the ability to port games created in Action Game Maker <\/strong>to multiple console platforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheduled for release in 2025, Action Game Maker is a powerful dev kit with an accessible visual interface that will give users a high level of freedom to develop their own action RPGs, even if they have no programming knowledge. It is built using the open-source Godot game engine- apparently giving access to all the engine\u2019s functions and plug-ins<\/a>. The Godot game engine can be used to make 2D and 3D games for PC, mobile and browsers. It has proven extremely popular with indie game makers- with the number of Steam releases made using Godot continuing to increase each year.<\/a>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

W4 Games was founded by four people in 2021, including former Godot Engine project leaders Juan Linietsky and R\u00e9mi Verscheld. The company’s mission<\/a> \u201cis to strengthen the open-source Godot ecosystem by providing companies with the commercial products and services they need.\u201d W4 Games is planning to launch W4 Consoles in Early Access in the second half of 2024. This middleware will allow games created using the Godot Engine to be ported to Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (PS5 portability might take a little longer, according to this news release<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Gotcha Gotcha Games\u2019 press release, their partnership with W4 Games will involve integrating W4 Consoles into Action Game Maker. In other words, this should make it easier for amateur game creators to get their games released on more platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this partnership, Gotcha Gotcha Games will also provide promotional support for W4 Games\u2019 products at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, held from September 26 to 29. TGS will feature numerous related events such as the \u201cGodot Engine Supported by W4 Games\u201d exhibit, a playable version of the Godot Engine, and the actual Action Game Maker demo project will be on display at Gotcha Gotcha Games\u2019 booth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Action Game Maker is currently in development and is scheduled to be released on PC (Steam<\/a>) in 2025. A Nintendo Switch version will be coming later. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
