Keen-eared fans were quick to point out that the animated series\u2019 version of Dante will be voiced by none other than Johnny Yong Bosch. As a new protagonist at the time, Nero looked and sounded a lot like Dante based on the script; prompting Bosch to channel his own version of Dante instead. It wasn\u2019t until he delved deeper into Nero\u2019s naivete and relationship with Kyrie, his childhood friend and love interest, that Bosch was able to solidify Nero\u2019s personality and place in Devil May Cry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Devil May Cry | Official Teaser | Netflix\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nbrfJAAS7Qc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>First teaser trailer for the Netflix Devil May Cry series<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the official teaser trailer, Bosch looks to be channeling his initial performances as Nero into the animated version of Dante. The Dante in the animated series is younger and cockier, sporting attire and gear that are similar to what he uses in the prequel game, Devil May Cry 3: Dante\u2019s Awakening. As Nero is looks a lot like Dante in his younger days, perhaps the casting crew thought that Bosch would be the perfect fit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s strange is that Reuben Langdon, who has been providing the English voice and motion capture for Dante since Devil May Cry 3: Dante\u2019s Awakening, wasn\u2019t given the role instead. Apart from playing a 19-year-old Dante in Devil May Cry 3: Dante\u2019s Awakening, Langdon also provided Dante\u2019s English voice for the 2007 Madhouse anime Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. As far as experience goes, some would say Langdon is more than qualified to take on the role of a young Dante in an animated series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240924-37449-001.jpeg\" alt=\"Netflix Devil May Cry young Dante\" class=\"wp-image-37463\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240924-37449-001.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240924-37449-001-380x214.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240924-37449-001-768x432.jpeg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision to cast Bosch as the English voice of Dante in Netflix\u2019s upcoming animated series has been met with mixed reception. While <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ripalekk\/status\/1836938872355250659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some Devil May Cry fans are happy that Johnny Yong Bosch is taking on the role<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KosticBorivoje\/status\/1836942265836593564\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">others find Dante\u2019s voice in the trailer to be so similar to Nero\u2019s<\/a> that it becomes uncanny. Despite not snagging the role of Dante, some fans are hoping <a href=\"http:\/\/some\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">that Reuben Langdon will be cast as another character<\/a> in the animated series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Netflix\u2019s Devil May Cry animated series isn\u2019t set to release until April 2025, so we\u2019ll have to wait and see if this one is faithful to the games it is based on.
