In 2003, he left Square Enix to found his own studio Mistwalker. His latest RPG Fantasian, released on mobile in 2021, is coming to Nintendo Switch this Winter. But aside from being a well-known active player of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV (establishing his own in-game fashion brand SakaGUCCI, and recently having a <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/final-fantasy-creator-hironobu-sakaguchi-enjoys-the-ff14-imp-attire-he-specially-requested-from-yoshi-p\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">special Kappa outfit added<\/a> to the game), what other titles does this legendary creator play these days?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-003.jpeg\" alt=\"Hironobu Sakaguchi Fantasian Neo Dimension\" class=\"wp-image-37174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-003.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-003-380x214.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-003-768x432.jpeg 768w\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Fantasian Neo Dimension, the upcoming release from Sakaguchi&#8217;s Mistwalker studio.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-palette-color-10-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-38aeced68979e21f069f5d48163db45d\" style=\"font-size:1px\">.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Squinting at the screenshot of Sakaguchi\u2019s Steam library, we can see that recently he has been playing some acclaimed open world games, namely The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as well as recent releases Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Black Myth: Wukong (which he mentioned playing in an August <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/auuo\/status\/1828148904732627169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">X<\/a> post). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other titles in Sakaguchi\u2019s packed Steam Library are connected to his roots as a game creator. Alongside classic Square RPG Chrono Trigger, he has also been playing Tactics Ogre Reborn (created by close acquaintance Yasumi Matsuno).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"472\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-001.jpeg\" alt=\"Chrono Trigger airship\" class=\"wp-image-37173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-001.jpeg 900w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-001-380x199.jpeg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-001-768x403.jpeg 768w\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Chrono Trigger<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sakaguchi has also been tackling action games like Elden Ring and Lies of P, both known for their hard difficulty. However, Sakaguchi was focusing on 2D isometric action games back in April, playing Hades, Pyre, Transistor and Bastion. It\u2019s hard to know whether this is one of Sakaguchi\u2019s favorite genres or if he was just playing them for research purposes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-002.jpg\" alt=\"Bastion 2D isometric indie action game\" class=\"wp-image-37177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-002.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-002-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240918-37169-002-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Bastion.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then there\u2019s the survival sandbox game Core Keeper, which seems like the odd one out in Hironobu Sakaguchi\u2019s Library, but it just goes to show that top game creators tend to play a wide variety of titles. The Steam Library screenshot attached to the X post attracted much interest as it gave a snapshot of what kind of games the renowned creator plays.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sakaguchi\u2019s latest release, Fantasian Neo Dimension, is coming to Nintendo Switch in Winter 2024.
