The artist apologized for the incident and assured fans that she would resume her work on the manga.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CUS4uastmR\">pic.twitter.com\/CUS4uastmR<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u306d\u3053\u30af\u30e9\u30b2\u273d\u85ac\u5c4b\u246d\u767a\u58f2\u4e2d (@nekokurage_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nekokurage_\/status\/1833037629069361363?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 9, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Apothecary Diaries creator was found guilty of evading about 47 million yen (over $300k) in taxes by failing to report approximately 260 million yen in income earned through her work on the manga. Nekokurage admitted to the charges and showed remorse, resulting in a sentence of 10 months in prison (3 years suspended) and a fine of 11 million yen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortly after the incident, The Apothecary Diaries\u2019 publisher Square Enix assured readers that they had <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/square-enix-will-not-be-dropping-the-apothecary-diaries-despite-artist-being-indicted-for-tax-evasion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no plans to cancel Nekokurage\u2019s manga<\/a> despite the guilty verdict.
