Japan\u2019s CODA (Content Overseas Distribution Association) revealed on September 6 that a US court is cooperating with anime giants Aniplex and Toho to crack down on leakers (source: ITmedia<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unspecified US court reportedly issued an order for the disclosure of identities behind accounts associated with leaks of popular Japanese anime series such as Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen. The leakers in question were illicitly obtaining and distributing clips and screenshots from anime episodes prior to their official airing times.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rights holders of the titles, Aniplex and Toho, filed a request for the disclosure order in June this year. After CODA presented evidence of the leaks, the disclosure request was executed by the court on August 20. According to CODA, this is the first time a US court has taken action in a case related to leaks of Japanese anime, and apparently, similar processes are also underway in relation to other titles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems the leakers are not in for a good time, as CODA vows to \u201cseek severe punishment\u201d once they find out who the perpetrators are. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
