On August 21, Pixiv posted an announcement<\/a> warning about fake accounts and phishing attempts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pixiv is a Japan-based platform for sharing and viewing illustrations, comics and fiction. According to the announcement, Pixiv have recently received reports that accounts pretending to be famous artists are using social media to convince other users to join a community for illustrators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, in this community there are several users claiming to be well-known artists. They have been engaged in activities such as offering drawing advice, selling unauthorized products that use copyrighted artwork, and obtaining users\u2019 personal information. In addition, accounts posing as Pixiv employees have been judging illustration contests. Pixiv has stated that they have no connection to this community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pixiv is currently continuing their investigation into the matter and is considering legal action. Earlier this year, the platform banned all photographic-looking images<\/a>, likely in an effort to tackle AI deepfakes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
