For the first time in the series\u2019 history, Banana Rumble launched exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. While technical factors also contributed to this decision, it seems that the Switch has been the most demanded platform for the series so far. Banana Rumble\u2019s producer Nobuhiro Suzuki recently commented on the topic in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/article\/202407\/11761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Super Monkey Ball series has quietly sold over 5 million units to date, and sales come predominantly from outside of Japan, particularly North America \u2013 which has become the series\u2019 \u201cmain battlefield\u201d as Suzuki puts it. The series\u2019 previous entry, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, reflects this tendency, as the majority of players were from North America.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1244\" height=\"697\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1244px) 100vw, 1244px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240731-34880-001.jpg\" alt=\"Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble\" class=\"wp-image-34884\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240731-34880-001.jpg 1244w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240731-34880-001-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240731-34880-001-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Banana Mania had a multi-platform release, while Banana Rumble unexpectedly went down the exclusive path. This was due to the latest title featuring online battles that allow up to 16 players to compete online across 5 different game modes. \u201cBy narrowing down to one platform, we were able to make thorough adjustments and improve (the online battle system) to a level that would be enjoyable for players .\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for why the hardware of choice ended up being the Nintendo Switch, Suzuki says, &nbsp;<br>\u201cThe reason we chose the Switch over other hardware is simple \u2013 among customers who purchased previous games, the Switch was the most often used platform\u201d.
