It will be streamable on Prime from October 24. The recently released trailer has prompted much discussion among fans regarding their expectations for the upcoming series, but what do the people behind the games think of it? A video interview with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Director and Executive Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama on Sega\u2019s YouTube channel gives some insight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Like A Dragon: Yakuza - Teaser Trailer | Prime Video\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mZkC1sYxzZo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video addressed to attendees of San Diego Comic-Con, Yokoyama explains that he was worried when he first heard about the planned series. \u201cI was pretty scared to be honest&#8230; My biggest fear was that it would be just an imitation.\u201d However, he describes being pleasantly surprised when he saw the screenplay, as he hadn\u2019t expected such a bold adaptation. Yokoyama was also impressed by the Prime series director\u2019s vision; \u201cI realized then that we\u2019re going to get something fun if we fully entrust him with the project.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"507\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240730-34785-002-1.jpg\" alt=\"Like a Dragon Yakuza Amazon Prime RGG Studio Masayoshi Yokoyama interview\" class=\"wp-image-34794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240730-34785-002-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240730-34785-002-1-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/20240730-34785-002-1-768x433.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He describes the Amazon Prime series Like a Dragon: Yakuza as a fresh take on the story of the very first Yakuza game. \u201cSeeing how they created something so new shocked me to the core, yet they didn&#8217;t neglect the original story.\u201d Yokoyama states, reiterating that \u201cThe spirit of the (game) series is there.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving on to the cast of Amazon\u2019s Like a Dragon: Yakuza, Ryoma Takeuchi will play Kazuma Kiryu, while Kento Kaku steps into the shoes of his rival Akira Nishikiyama. The way these actors portray their characters is completely different from the original story, but \u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s great about it,\u201d Yokoyama enthuses. Apparently, the first episode has a shocking ending that had a big impact on Yokoyama to say the least, making him scream, jump out of his chair and run for a cigarette break (where his hands were still trembling, as he describes vividly in the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/9NS-3_Gqr-s?si=sqwW2_IFLymAsNC9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">full video interview<\/a>).
