Kadokawa has announced that it has agreed to acquire shares in Doga Kobo and make it a subsidiary (source: GameBiz<\/a>). Doga Kobo is best known for being the studio behind the global hit anime series Oshi no Ko. Through this acquisition, Kadokawa and Doga Kobo aim to consolidate and expand their anime production capabilities, with the goal of continuously producing high quality works with global appeal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doga Kobo was founded in 1973. Recent anime that they have made include Oshi no Ko and Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian. In addition to their own works, they have collaborated on the production of numerous well-known films and anime series such as Fist of the North Star, Pok\u00e9mon and nine Studio Ghibli films, including Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies. Prior to this mutually agreed upon acquisition, Doga Kobo had already built up a strong working relationship with Kadokawa.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a press statement, Kadokawa\u2019s Chief Anime Officer Takeshi Kikuchi commented, \u201cFrom now on we will further strengthen our cooperative relationship, so that we can create even more attractive and exciting anime that will leave an impression on the hearts of viewers worldwide.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
