But in May 2024, the title\u2019s concurrent player count suddenly rose almost three-fold compared to initial post-release figures (SteamDB<\/a>). We asked the producer of Snowbreak\u2019s Japanese division how the game\u2019s recent momentum looks from the developers\u2019 side and what led to the sudden spike.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the game\u2019s recent performance, the producer notes that Snowbreak’s recent rise in popularity is significant and well reflected in the numbers \u2013 with sales increasing and daily active users rising by over 50% on average. According to the producer, the biggest contributing factor to this was the management and development teams\u2019 efforts to steer the game in the direction of fanservice, i.e., to give players what they want. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For context, Snowbreak: Containment Zone recently updated its age rating to M\/PEGI 16 and has been actively releasing sexy and revealing character skins. The developers have also been regularly implementing new character voice lines and intimate interactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting Snowbreak back up on its feet was not a simple feat though, as the producer recounts, \u201cThe management team never cut corners in surveying user needs, improving the localization and maintaining the community. No matter how tough the situation got, the development team did not give up on Snowbreak, and based on player feedback, they improved the main story, character designs, game modes, and various features across the board to the best of their ability. Their persistence was an extremely important factor.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the producer, Snowbreak will continue pursuing fanservice, which means players can expect more attractive skins and new interactions in future updates. Addressing the controversy surrounding Snowbreak\u2019s change of direction, he comments, \u201cWe have received criticism of the game and its new approach from certain people who are not Snowbreak players. But rest assured, we know very well who we should provide our services to.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the game\u2019s creators will be exploring new possibilities for combat and multiplayer.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
