One of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth\u2019s co-directors, Motomu Toriyama, recently gave some more hints as to what we can expect from the upcoming final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.  Speaking at an anime convention, Toriyama reveals that we can expect the much-anticipated third part to have a satisfying ending that surpasses that of the original Final Fantasy 7. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toriyama and battle director Teruki Endo were guests at the Indonesia Anime Con<\/a> held on June 15 and 16, where they answered various questions about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. As a final question in the Q and A session<\/a>, they were asked \u201cIs there anything you couldn\u2019t do in Remake and Rebirth that you hope you will be able to achieve in the third part?\u201d Echoing battle director Teruki Endo\u2019s recent comments<\/a>, Toriyama stated that they want to give players even more freedom to explore in the final entry and are working on new ways to do this.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moriyama then revealed that the ending of the final part will tie together all the story threads from the expanded remake\u2019s previous installments. \u201cWe would like to bring you a moving and impressive ending which will answer all the mysteries in Rebirth and exceeds the original game\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original Final Fantasy 7 featured an almost 10 minute-long ending cutscene FMV, which looked impressive back in 1997. However, it goes without saying that given the technical limitations at the time, the ending for the original Final Fantasy 7 was very simple compared to what can be achieved today. For a start, Yuffie and Vincent were conspicuously absent from the ending FMV as they were both optional party members \u2013 so it was unclear to players of the original game whether or not they actually survived. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the closing scene hints at a positive ending- with Cloud and co. on board the Highwind and Aerith saving the Planet, it is unclear how much destruction the Meteor caused- although the post-credit glimpse into the future suggests that it is the Planet that reclaims all in the end. The final part of the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy will no doubt build upon these foundations just as Remake and Rebirth have. It seems from Toriyama\u2019s comment that we will be in for a show-stopping ending that is more conclusive and less ambiguous than the original.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
