{"id":31840,"date":"2024-06-03T18:54:08","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T09:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/?p=31840"},"modified":"2024-06-03T18:54:09","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T09:54:09","slug":"the-exit-8-and-platform-8-will-have-no-further-sequels-developer-is-working-on-a-horror-adventure-title-slated-for-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/the-exit-8-and-platform-8-will-have-no-further-sequels-developer-is-working-on-a-horror-adventure-title-slated-for-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"The Exit 8 and Platform 8 will have no further sequels \u2013 developer is working on a horror adventure title slated for 2025\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Japanese solo indie developer Kotake Create has announced the completion of his &#8220;Number 8 series.\u201d This means there will be no further sequels to <strong>The Exit 8<\/strong> and <strong>Platform 8<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having released The Exit 8 in November 2023 and Platform 8 just last week, Kotake Create will now be focusing on completing and releasing Strange Shadow, a horror adventure game he has been working on since before The Exit 8\u2019s launch.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While The Exit 8 was an anomaly-themed walking simulator with a \u201cspot-the-difference mechanic,\u201d the recently released Platform 8 has the player figure out ways to get past anomalies to escape an endlessly looping train. At the time of writing, Platform 8 has a Very Positive status on Steam.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"8\u756a\u51fa\u53e3\u306e\u7d9a\u7de8\u300c8\u756a\u306e\u308a\u3070\u300d\u30c8\u30ec\u30fc\u30e9\u30fc\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C7Rt7ndFhGo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite both titles&#8217; success, it seems we will not see more sequels. As he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NOTOKEKE\/status\/1797055820552867876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained via X<\/a>, Kotake Create made The Exit 8 and Platform 8 out of his love for Japanese subways. Satisfied with the two games, he will be putting an end to the series and carrying on with the work-in-progress Strange Shadows. He also hints at a potential action game as his next project.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strange Shadows is a horror adventure game in which you survive a spaceship crash only to find yourself on a planet full of giant creatures. Gameplay will revolve around hiding and running from the monsters while looking for a way to escape the planet. The game has been in development since 2022, and Kotake Create has mentioned that The Exit 8 was a project he started as a break from working on Strange Shadows.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The steam page for Strange Shadow is now available!\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VRggCvCWALQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Exit 8 is available for the PC (<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/2653790\/The_Exit_8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steam<\/a>) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/us\/store\/products\/the-exit-8-switch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nintendo Switch<\/a>.
