Every video game collector knows the pain of shrinking shelf space and having to Tetris your game cases away without damaging them. Veteran game developer Masahiro Sakurai <\/strong>took to YouTube recently to explain how he stores his huge game collection and offers some tips for space-challenged collectors. The video goes into a surprising amount of depth, with the Kirby creator not only covering how to store physical copies of games but also his multiple console set-up, Amiibo figure cases and even where his adorable cat is \u201cstored.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have a lot of games at home, so proper storage is a life-or-death matter\u201d Sakurai explains. His video gives a thorough breakdown of how he stores different types of games, from Sega Megadrive and SNES cartridges to discs, UMDs and Wii SD cards. He explains that he previously had boxed copies of games but ran out of space. Now, all his games are neatly stored as loose copies in various drawers, cases and binders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsurprisingly, Sakurai also has many consoles- two of each in fact- which he keeps in custom-made cabinets. He explains in detail how he keeps all the HDMI connections and cables organized, as well as how he makes sure each console gets enough ventilation (especially the PS5 and Xbox Series X). Mini versions of older consoles like the NES and SNES help him to save space.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sakurai uses a label printer to make sure his games and cables are clearly labelled, explaining that he is glad to have everything neatly organized, especially as it helps him easily find a game when he needs to capture footage for his channel. After detailing his storage techniques for games, controllers, consoles, cables and figures, Sakurai introduces cat storage. \u201cCats store themselves, no assistance required\u201d he quips, before revealing cute photos of his cat curled up in baskets and boxes that he places around the house for her.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
