Capcom\u2019s overall profits have continued their year-on-year rise during the 2023 fiscal year, as reported by GameBiz News<\/a>. Video game sales in particular increased, rising by 21% to 152.410 million yen between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024. This success was thanks not only to the strong performance of new releases like Street Fighter 6 and Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2, but also thanks to sales of both old and new Monster Hunter and Resident Evil titles. Capcom\u2019s effective promotion campaigns and tie-ins are credited with helping to achieve these high sales by appealing to both IP fans and newcomers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its launch in June 2023, Street Fighter 6 has sold approximately 3.3m units. The fighting game also stands at the forefront of Capcom\u2019s e-sports sector. In 2023, Capcom held various SF6 esports tournaments, including Capcom Cup X<\/a>, which had the highest prize money pool in the company’s history at $2 million USD. The event\u2019s livestream received over 190,000 simultaneous views. In addition to tournaments, Capcom also held esports promotional events overseas, such as in Singapore, to help expand their player base.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New games and release announcements for longstanding Capcom IPs also prompted sales of older titles to grow. The release of Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2 (selling over 2.62m units) lead to increased sales of the expanded version of the first game- Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Likewise, the announcement of Monster Hunter: Wilds release in 2025 encouraged people to catch up on other entries in the series, with particularly strong sales of Monster Hunter: World (which has shifted over 25.23m units worldwide).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capcom\u2019s Resident Evil franchise also sold very well last year, contributing to overall profits. Releasing in March 2023, Resident Evil 4 (remake) sold around 7.02m units. Promotions of the Resident Evil IP (focusing on titles like the Resident Evil 2 remake), as well as the release of the Resident Evil: Death Island film, probably helped introduce new people to the survival horror franchise. Sales of older Resident Evil titles totaled 36.29 million units, an increase over the 29.3 million units sold in the 2022 financial year.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operating income: 57.081 million yen (up by 12.3%).\u00a0
