Atlus announced on March 21 that the release date for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance<\/strong> will be moved forward one week \u2013 from June 21 to June 14. As a result, it will no longer be released on the same day or week as the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the definitive, multiplatform version of the latest installment in Atlus’s popular Shin Megami Tensei RPG series. The rerelease will bring gameplay system and QOL improvements, while also introducing an alternate storyline that includes a new map and locations, as well as new characters<\/a>.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vengeance was originally scheduled to be released on June 21 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Swtich, PS4\/PS5 and Xbox One\/Xbox Series X|S. However, this date has been moved up one week to June 14. While Atlus has not given an official explanation for the change in schedule, the original release date would have overlapped with the highly anticipated Elden Ring expansion \u201cShadow of the Erdtree.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Elden Ring base game was massively popular at launch \u2013 to the extent that  titles releasing around the same time struggled to garner attention, with some selling poorly as a result. Furthermore, this phenomenon did not only affect action\/soulslike games that overlapped genre-wise. In light of this, other developers seem cautious about the upcoming DLC\u2019s release – Jyamma Games recently rescheduled<\/a> the release of Enotria: The Last Song, explaining that having it overlap with Shadow of the Erdtree would be \u201csuicidal.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is unusual for a game to be released early, except under extraordinary circumstances. Thus, the change in plans for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance may also have something to do with Elden Ring. Altering the release date for a game with a physical edition is a heavy burden for the manufacturer, and Atlus has issued an apology to the parties involved. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance<\/a> is now scheduled to release on June 14 for the PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Nintendo Switch, PS4\/PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
