Japanese construction company Daiwa House and Koyu Holdings (the parent company of Koei Tecmo) recently announced the start of the construction of a multipurpose facility in Yokohama, Japan that will include a state-of-the-art game art museum. The complex is scheduled to be completed by May 2027 (source: Daiwa House<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Titled the Minato Mirai 21 Central District 52 Redevelopment Project<\/strong>, the complex in question is being built in the largest area of Yokohama City\u2019s futuristic business district called Minato Mirai 21. The south side of the construction will host the world\u2019s first game art museum, equipped with cutting edge technology. This part of the project is being led by Koyu Holdings, and is described as \u201ca place where game enthusiasts from all over the world can gather.\u201d The museum will employ CG technology to allow visitors to experience various video game-related media such as game art, character designs, concept art and sounds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum’s exterior will take on a spiral form and be surrounded by an expansive art garden. At night, projection mapping will be used to recreate vistas from video games in the garden. Mei Erikawa, the managing executive officer of Koei Tecmo, has been appointed as director of the museum.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other areas of the complex will include office spaces, commercial facilities, as well as a district heating plant aimed at carbon footprint reduction. The project is scheduled to be completed in May\u00a02027.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
