On November 24, Bandai Namco Holdings reported on illicit activity discovered at one of its subsidiaries. According to the report, a former dispatch worker had been illegally retrieving and selling products scheduled for disposal over the course of 8 years. The employee has since been terminated, and Bandai will be taking further legal action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The illegal reselling of merchandise was discovered in Bandai Namco Holdings\u2019 subsidiary Bandai Namco Business Arc, which provides support for administrative work and handles general affairs, human resources, finances, and information systems of the Group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report by Bandai Namco Holdings<\/a>, the subsidiary in question has been under investigation since June of this year based on an external tip-off. During the investigation, it was discovered that someone had been illegally entering the company’s disposed inventory storage to retrieve products. This revelation prompted the company to set up an internal investigation committee headed by an external lawyer and to consult with the police.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, it was discovered that the former dispatch employee had been illegally reselling disposed inventory to external vendors from 2015 to 2023. Over the course of about 8 years, the employee had made a total of 87 million JPY (well over $600,000 USD) in illicit profits. Even though the employee had already been dismissed as of August 20, the company intends to continue with the investigation, pursuing both civil and criminal charges. Additionally, the Director in charge, as well as several executives, have been given pay cuts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January this year, Bandai Namco Holdings had reported that a former employee had embezzled $4.6 million by scalping the company\u2019s mobile devices (Related article<\/a>). This illicit activity also took place over an extensive period of time, between 2015 and 2022. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
