Feel free to download the image and use it as you wish.<\/font><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In their X\/Twitter post, the MAFF introduces the idea behind the campaign and presents the campaign\u2019s visual \u2013 the phrase \u201cTaberuze Nippon!\u201d (which translates loosely to \u201cLet\u2019s dig in, Japan!\u201d) is written out in a flashy font against a white background. The ministry encourages users to create images using the logo and share them on social media, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MAFF_JAPAN\/status\/1699714101520535711?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">providing examples<\/a> of what they mean.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what makes this image so sensational? The font, color and juxtaposition of the image all caused Japanese users to unanimously remember a particular dank meme from the past. The vintage meme in question is the \u201cI want five thousand trillion yen!\u201d meme, which was inadvertently created by illustrator and game artist K-SUWABE back in 2016.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"ja\" dir=\"ltr\">\u3054\u81ea\u7531\u306b\u304a\u4f7f\u3044\u304f\u3060\u3055\u3044 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dqosmcIIdN\">pic.twitter.com\/dqosmcIIdN<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u30b1\u30fc\u30b9\u30ef\u30d9 \u3010K-SUWABE\u3011 (@KSUWABE) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KSUWABE\/status\/771697739805528064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2016<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><font size=\"2\"><strong>Post translation: <\/strong>Use it as you please&nbsp;<\/font><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Something about this plain white background image yelling \u201cI want 5000000000000000 (five thousand trillion yen)\u201d in a needlessly dramatic, bevel and embossed font with no context whatsoever struck gold with Twitter and Pixiv communities, and it became fodder for endless memes, with users even creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/rare25.github.io\/5000choyen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generator <\/a>that writes out any words in the iconic font and a similar <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/5000%E5%85%86%E5%86%86%E3%82%B3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%90%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC\/mgaphgebhfgmkahikdhdomnnpelbijmo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Chrome plugin<\/a>. Perhaps the phenomenon can be compared to the viral Retro Wave text generator memes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By some flash of genius, Japan\u2019s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries thought to excavate this relic and employ it to spread awareness about a completely serious matter. And they did it authentically, too \u2013 Internet detectives were able to<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gamsic\/status\/1699725382633861268?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> determine<\/a> that the ministry\u2019s logo was not created using the previously mentioned free generator, as the characters of the phrase end up muddled when attempting to do so. This means that the ministry had someone sit down and recreate the font from scratch.
