Users seem to resonate greatly with the OP&#8217;s sentiment, none being very pleased with the advertisement&#8217;s unfortunate contents and timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 26, a user posted about their dilemma surrounding the RPG game <strong>MementoMori<\/strong> and their family\u2019s evening meals. In the game, girls, referred to as witches, fight against enemies, Curses, that have overrun their world. The art style of the game is often described as a bit gloomy, somber, and dystopian. The app\u2019s popularity has spread overseas as well, gaining many international fans likely due to its large cast of female characters and laid-back gameplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MementoMori is currently running a series of TV advertisements where a female character is sitting alone in a white void with a faded, blurry setting, talking in a whispery voice. This series of commercials that many users found to be particularly awkward to sit through in the company of others is titled &#8220;You\u2019re going to like me&#8221;, in which a new character Fia is introduced. Currently, there are four different versions of Fia\u2019s commercials, in which she tells the viewers to look in one of four directions and then delivers lines such as \u201cYou\u2019re not going to pay attention to me?\u201d, \u201cAw, I lost\u201d, \u201dYou\u2019re ignoring me?\u201d, or simply gives a breathy sigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u3010\u30e1\u30e1\u30f3\u30c8\u30e2\u30ea\u3011TVCM\u300c\u79c1\u3092\u597d\u304d\u306b\u306a\u308b\u300d\u7bc7\u305d\u306e1\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qKClKfRPgVk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As popular as the game seems to be according to mobile game store rankings, there appears to be a great number of individuals who don\u2019t seem to appreciate the app\u2019s advertisements. Users strongly sympathized with the OP\u2019s post, sharing their feelings regarding the commercials&#8217; airing. One user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/1nomiya33\/status\/1695690517009534995\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> \u201cEven though I&#8217;m not interested and even find the ad unpleasant, I can&#8217;t help feeling like everyone\u2019s looking at me like, &#8220;You actually enjoy this kind of thing, don\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the game&#8217;s OST features an extensive list of big-name Japanese music artists, in these commercials Fia\u2019s lines are delivered to the viewer in complete silence. The character\u2019s voice is seductive and cutesy, while soothing and clear like ASMR, however, not everyone is a fan. One poster <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/go_mi_444\/status\/1695807677077815441\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreed<\/a> \u201cI laughed so hard! I totally get what you mean. Stop whispering in silence! And for such a long time. It\u2019s so awkward.\u201d One fan of the game <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/saltteafarm\/status\/1696162005244150001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> \u201cI play MementoMori, but their taste in commercials is catastrophic&#8230; It&#8217;s a completely different level of terrible compared to Girl Friend Beta.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems as though the commercial\u2019s ending lines were also a point of frustration for some. One user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Kitune_is_babe\/status\/1695651592639513008\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complained<\/a> \u201cI relate. Unfortunately for some, this means that the airing of MementoMori\u2019s ads is likely to coincide with the time many people may be eating dinner with their families. One user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adroitman7\/status\/1695754485199691880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shared<\/a> \u201cWhen she said \u201cLook that way~\u201d my grandmother made a face I\u2019ve never seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to some users, MementoMori isn\u2019t the only offending mobile game advertisement on their TVs. Commercials for games such as Uma Musume, Fate\/Grand Order, Princess Connect! Re:Dive and many more were also being called out for setting an awkward atmosphere for some.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While a considerable number of people expressed their dislike for MementoMori&#8217;s advertisements, several comments acknowledge that despite the awkwardness of the commercials, they still enjoyed other aspects of the franchise, such as its music. One user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/xEgM9V1FPC0Og7s\/status\/1695745824448557297?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> \u201cI really dislike that commercial. I like Memento Mori, but every time it airs, I think, &#8220;They should really emphasize the fantastic music.
