Square Enix has released patch 1.12 for Forspoken<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forspoken is an action RPG developed by Luminous Productions, a studio formed around staff who worked on Final Fantasy XV. It tells the story of Frey Holland, who is transported from the real world to a magical land known as Athia. Frey teams up with a sentient bracelet named Cuff, and the two head out on a journey to find a way for Frey to return to her world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players can rapidly scamper through the vast world of the game using magic parkour skills, as well as a regular sprint. However, there are some locations in the game where you are unable to use these abilities and are instead forced to walk at an easy pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new update now makes it possible to sprint within some of these locations, including Pilgrim’s Refuges, the Archives, and the Mausoleum. In particular, Pilgrim\u2019s Refuges\u2014which act as safe zones\u2014are places that players visit quite frequently, so being able to sprint in these locations is a huge QoL improvement.

Another adjustment implemented in the update is that the default sprint button has been changed from “L3” to “L3 or \u3007.<\/ins>” Parkour skills are activated with the \u3007 button, so by assigning sprint to the same button, you don\u2019t have to worry about using them individually. This change does not affect existing save files, but those who have already played the game are free to load up their file and change it in the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is fairly common for open world games to have situations where some of your movement capabilities are restricted, but it\u2019s not often that these restrictions get removed later on. The game\u2019s previous update<\/a> was largely focused on implementing extensive adjustments to improve the game\u2019s performance, while this new update is aimed at making the game easier to play by making fine adjustments to the gameplay systems. Forspoken<\/a> is currently available on PC (Steam\/Epic Games Store\/Microsoft Store) and PS5. The upcoming story DLC, In Tanta We Trust, is due to be released on May 26. Those who own the Limited Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition of the game will receive early access to the story DLC on May 23.
