Indie game developer GameCreatorNeko released a free adventure game on March 28 that makes use of ChatGPT. The game was available to be played in web browsers on unityroom<\/a>, but has already been taken down due to exceeding the allowed usage charges of the ChatGPT API. GameCreatorNeko says that while future plans are undecided, they want to make the game available once again.

In the game, players take the role of a police officer interrogating an AI murder suspect. Players enter what they want to say directly and ChatGPT generates a response, going back and forth like an interrogation. The AI suspect\u2019s heart rate will increase depending on the player\u2019s questioning, and the goal is to gradually work your way towards a confession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players are free to input whatever questions or statements they want, so it\u2019s possible to avoid the police and suspect setting entirely. Players can ask up to 7 questions which means any wasted questions might result in not getting the confession you\u2019re looking for. Furthermore, one playthrough takes around 10 minutes.

The developer stated that the game was played more than they expected after releasing it which resulted in high ChatGPT API usage charges. This caused them to hit their usage limit after just a few days, so they took the game down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GameCreatorNeko previously released a different free game for web browsers that made use of the AI illustration service Midjourney (related article<\/a>). That style of incorporating AI into the gameplay and even giving it significance in the story has been carried over to their latest work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GameCreatorNeko is currently undecided about releasing the game again. They are currently running a Twitter poll <\/a>asking players for opinions regarding a paid version of the game or one where players use their own ChatGPT tokens.
